Why I Do This Work:
In the gorgeous countryside, surrounded by trees and an incredible view of Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Jefferson, I had come to know isolation intimately. I grew up with undiagnosed autism, questioning my gender and sexual orientation, and my religious and political views as compared to ones around me. I navigated the isolation I felt by watching how other people interacted. This cultivated a life-long fascination with people and systems, but eventually sexuality and relationships as I tried navigating my own sexual exploration. My own experiences led to a deep passion for extending a helping hand to those that didn’t have the support I wish I had growing up and embracing the healing capacities that community & close relationships bring.
Being formally diagnosed with Autism as an adult has opened my eyes to the unique challenges I’ve faced and continue to face as I learn what it means to me to be Autistic. My journey with diagnosis has also given me tools to help others navigate their unique journeys and I am eager to offer support to help you re-contextualize your experiences with new understanding.
My own exploration around queerness & kink cultivated a significant interest in helping others navigate their own sexual identities. Navigating a sex-negative world and intimate relationships can come with lots of challenges, which are further exacerbated by the various intersections of our identities. I’m here to support you through this exploration, with understanding for how complex it can be, so that you can feel fulfilled in your sexuality and relationship(s).
I completed a bachelor’s degree in sociology, primarily focusing on concepts around queer masculinity, anti-queer rhetoric, and queer identity development. I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy with a focus in Sexuality at Lewis & Clark College.
How I Do This Work:
Whether I’m supporting you with individual or relational therapy, I’m here to help you navigate the nuances of your unique story. As a Marriage and Family therapist, I am always mindful that we always exist in relationship with others. I also believe that we all search for equitable and mutually beneficial relationships. My hope is for therapy to be a supportive relationship in your life, in which you can explore the nuances of your story.
My approach is rooted in Contextual and Socio-Emotional Relationship Therapy, which means I practice from a framework that is systemic, equity-focused, and contextually & culturally humble. I believe in the power of being both a close ally to you, your relationship, and your relationship to your life’s worries and also being someone who embraces difficult-to-have conversations. How we navigate care in relationships of all kinds is something I value greatly both in and out of the therapy room, so I seek to foster an inviting space that embraces the best and worst parts of yourself.
My work is queer-affirming, anti-racist, intersectional, community-based, existential, and humble. Therapy changes the therapist as much as it changes you, meaning we always have something new to learn.
Whether navigating relational rupture and repair, identity exploration, sexual exploration, grief, and other demands of life, I seek to both hold my clients accountable and be held accountable by those I work with.
I look forward to getting to know you and I am honored to be given the opportunity to help you find meaning in your journey through the business of life.
