Separation & Divorce Can Be Compassionate, Supportive, & Healing
-
We are here to help you navigate this process with more ease.
You and your partner have decided that it’s time to separate. You realize you need to take different paths, but you still value the relationship you’ve shared and don’t want this to be a bitter and conflictual process.
Maybe you want to stay on good terms for your children.
Maybe you want to maintain a friendship.
Maybe you want there to be space to consider reconciliation.
Maybe you want to do this differently than your parents did.
You want this to be an intentional process but you don’t have a guide for how to do this.
We understand that separation can be heartbreaking and comes with grief. We also believe separation can be compassionate and healing.
We will support you in processing your feelings around this change, identifying the parts of your relationship you may want to hold onto, and ending this chapter with care.
How does therapy for separation & divorce work?
Sometimes having someone outside of your relationship, who can offer a supportive, makes this process much smoother.
Your therapist will get to know you and your partner, your relationship story, the values you want to center in your separation, your past experiences that are impacting this process, and your wants & hopes for your relationship as you move forward with separation.
They will help you engage in more connecting communication during our sessions, create space to share your feelings with each other, help you create a plan for your separation, process the emotional side of the logistics (i.e. finances and co-parenting), and give you tools for continuing the work outside of our sessions.
Other relationship concerns we can help you with:
-
